Interview with Lana Del Rey about changes in life and popularity

Singer Lana Del Rey about popularity and changes in life

The singer gave an interview to The Hollywood Reporter, in which she spoke about her personal experiences, how she deals with negativity and ill-wishers, and how she feels about becoming a mentor for another famous singer, Billie Eilish.

About the viral video from the Waffle House coffee shop

About two months ago, the famous singer showed up at a cafe in a small town in Alabama, Florence, wearing a worker's uniform. User videos quickly spread across the Internet, and for several weeks fans of Lana Del Rey were wondering: is this a new image for video work or a career change?

In the end, the performer herself admits: she did not see that anyone was filming her. Lana Del Rey simply brought out to a regular visitor what he systematically ordered: a cola without ice and an empty cup.

However, like the lyrics of her songs, these videos and photographs caused a storm of emotions among her listeners, who were looking for deeper meaning in such actions of the singer.

Lana's secret is that she is who she is, says Jack Antonoff, producer of Del Rey's three albums.

“She truly is one of the best songwriters and vocalists who also loves driving her truck and drinking coffee at the gas station.” It can disarm people,” he adds.

Lana herself is not surprised that these photos have gone viral on the Internet, but she says that she would prefer that the new album be released and become popular with the same success.

“The next day I received up to ten thousand messages from people I hadn’t seen or heard from for several years. They write: “I saw you at Waffle House,” and I ask: “Have you heard my new album?” says the singer.

In the end, the singer nevertheless admitted: she would like to work in parallel with music in a more mundane field, where her days would be orderly.

On the inexorability of music and the reaction of listeners

Lana Del Rey notes that music is always with her, even when she doesn't want to write new songs.

“Music is like a little bird on my shoulder that always pecks at me, even when I’m not interested in making music.” And I'm really interested in doing other things. The music is simply unforgiving.

At the same time, she admits: now people have begun to listen to her more, they have begun to understand her, and not just listen or get carried away with her creativity. The reason was that the singer in her music also covered the darker sides of American life.

The singer herself spent almost ten years moving towards the recognition that surrounds her now. At the beginning of her career she calls herself a failure and is sure that she never felt in the middle ground: there was either crushing criticism or popularity.

I'm in a good place now and things continue to go well. I can relax a little.

The singer also added that her life is still haunted by the high-profile thefts of songs she wrote, which happened several months ago.

“I checked everything and I really don’t understand how my recordings were leaked online five months before the album’s release. These songs are 11 years old. “I made a lot of effort to check everything again, but they are still published,” says Lana.

Lana Del Rey also responded to the words of Billie Eilish in an interview that the latter interviewed with Lana. The young performer Billie Eilish then said that she had been inspired by Del Rey’s music all her life.

- Billie (Eilish - ed.) and Olivia (Rodrigo - ed.) are such good people, it's damn cool. I love them and their music. I always felt like a big sister to almost everyone I met.
