​midwxst - BACK IN ACTION 4.0 (2024)

BACK IN ACTION 4.0 serves as the fourth installment to midwxst’s BACK IN ACTION series, following up the third installment back in September 2022 and Edgar’s September 2023 album, E3. It also serves as his first release not under Geffen Records.

Originally, BACK IN ACTION 3.0 was intended to be the final installment of the series, however on October 13, 2023, midwxst took to Twitter announcing that he would be returning to making hardcore music, stating:

fuck round make sum hard shit it’s time to get back innat mode

On January 21, 2024, midwxst would take to Twitter hinting on the album’s new rollout, reposting a fanmade edit of wxst going on tour with fast car clips added, with midwxst adding three flag emojis onto it. Edgar would then confirm BACK IN ACTION 4.0 on February 19, alongside sharing a snippet of a song confirmed to be on the album.

On February 27, 2024, midwxst would then post the first ever poster of the album, to which he shows the new theme of race cars. A teaser trailer of the album was then posted the same day.

Then on March 13, 2024, midwxst teased through Twitter that the project would be released in the Summer of 2024, while continuing to tease the project in various mini trailers.

To help prevent fans from waiting on the album’s release in the summer, midwxst would release a teaser EP titled B4BIA on March 20, 2024, as a SoundCloud exclusive.

“FIRE” with DC The Don would be released as the album’s lead single on April 12, 2024.

While continuing to tease the album in various ways, on April 20, 2024, midwxst confirmed that the album would see an official release in July 2024, to which he would further confirm on May 12 with another teaser trailer.

“E30” would then be released on June 14, 2024, serving as the album’s second single.

“GUN SMOKE” would then be released on June 28, 2024, serving as the album’s third single.

After continuing to tease the album for some time, on July 10, 2024, midwxst would take to social media revealing the album’s official release date, artwork and tracklist. Dro Kenji and the previously mentioned DC The Don serves as the album’s sole features.
